The Hollywood Forever Cemetery offers up a fitting venue to celebrate the Day of the Dead. This will be the 18th annual Dia de los Muertos festival held at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Throughout the festival, there will be food vendors from all around LA, arts and crafts vendors, a costume contest, four stages featuring theatrical performances and musical performances from Grammy Award winning arts, Aztec Ritual Dancers, and over 100 altars that have been created by members of the community. The event will take place Saturday, October 28th from 12pm-midnight.
Olvera Street is a historic area of Los Angeles that celebrates and commemorates L.A.’s Mexican roots. At Olvera Street, they will offer Day of the Dead celebrations from October 25th through November 2nd. Every night during these dates starting at 7pm, festivities will begin with a traditional Mayan Blessing. Afterward, there will be a ceremonial Aztec blessic, Aztec dancers, a Dia de los Muertos parade and more. Stay afterward for free sweet bread! During this night of offering, altars that have been made by members of the community, celebrating the lives of loved ones, will be displayed for all to see.
