new years in pasadena

Spending New Year’s in Pasadena is a fun and unique experience that you won’t get anywhere else. This is because Pasadena is home to the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl, long standing traditions that have taken place in the city for over 100 years! When you stay at the dunes motel, you’ll be in close proximity to both the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl. Consider attending one event, or even both this New Year’s!

The Rose Parade is an exciting and festive parade that takes place along Colorado Blvd in Pasadena. The Rose Parade features unique floats that are decorated completely from various flowers. Additionally, there are also marching bands and equestrian units that process down the 5 ½ mile route. This year, the theme of the parade is “Making a Difference”. If you want the best seats on the route, get tickets for the grandstands that will be lined along the parade route. While you can purchase your tickets so you know your spot is guaranteed, you can also arrive early and try and get a spot along the parade route on the sidewalk for free.

After the parade, the annual Rose Bowl College football game will take place. Historically, the Rose Bowl is a college football bowl game where the champions of the Pac-12 Conference and the winners of the Big Ten Conference go head to head. However, the 2018 Rose Bowl will have the winners of the Big 12 Conference take on the champions of the Southeastern Conference. Currently, the Oklahoma Sooners are ranked #2 while the Georgia Bulldogs are ranked #3. Both teams went 12-1 during the regular season. This will be the 104th annual Rose Bowl Game. Whether you love football or are simply looking for a family friendly way to enjoy the New Year, the Rose Bowl college football game is sure to be an exciting event. Get your tickets today!
