One of the best ways to experience Los Angeles is by hitting the beach. Whether you simply want to people watch, explore the pier, or hit the waves, there is a beach just for you. Something that makes LA great is that there are so many beaches to choose from. If you find all the options overwhelming, consider these three LA beaches to visit sometime this summer!
Santa Monica Beach is one of the most visited beaches on the West Coast. Not only is it conveniently located to the Santa Monica promenade, which is an area filled with shopping and dining opportunities, it also is home to one of the best piers in the area. Here you can enjoy all the typical fanfare such as pier fishing, fortune tellers, caricature artists, video arcades and more. There is also a Ferris wheel, fairground games and rides! During the summer, there is even a twilight concert series that is completely FREE. For more information on this concert series, visit www.santamonicapier.org/twilightconcerts
Venice Beach is one of the best places for people watching in the entire city. If you’re looking for a way to spend a sunny afternoon, consider walking down the winding Venice Boardwalk. If you’d prefer, you can also skate or bike ride along the boardwalk as well. There are also basketball courts as well as an area for volleyball and even a small skate park. If this isn’t enough options for people watching, there is also Muscle Beach where bodybuilders go to lift some weights and perfect their build.
If instead you’re searching for the typical beach experience complete with pristine sand and crashing waves then Manhattan Beach is the place for you. Far away from tourists yet still close enough so that it’s not a far drive, Manhattan Beach is the place to go if you want to lie out on the sand, read a book and work on that summer tan. Stop by one of the boutique hotels and small eateries nearby before or after your trip to beach.
