Santa Monica is one of the most visited destinations in all of Southern California. From the sandy shore to the shopping destinations, there is so much to do and see in Santa Monica. Book yourself a budget friendly hotel near Santa Monica, and read on to discover the must-dos of this popular beach city.

In many ways, the Santa Monica Pier is considered the focal point of Santa Monica Beach and no trip to Santa Monica would be complete without stopping here. In fact, you could spend an entire day exploring the pier. Head to Pacific Park, which is a fun amusement park located right by the ocean. The park includes a Ferris wheel, roller coasters and traditional carnival games. At the pier you’ll also find an aquarium, restaurants, bars and more. One of the most popular restaurants located on the pier is Bubba Gump Shrimps.

Exploring all the excellent food options in Santa Monica might take more than just one day. One excellent option to consider though, is Musha Restaurant, a Japanese Izakaya, which offers both affordable and delicious Japanese cuisine. If happy hour is on the mind, consider The Lobster. The restaurant offers fresh seafood, a great view of the coast and of course, excellent happy hour deals. Happy hour is from 4:30-6:30pm Monday through Friday.

When you want to spend some time shopping, head to Santa Monica Place. You’ll find this shopping destination at the southern end of the famous Third Street Promenade. The shopping center is set around an open air courtyard that is pedestrian friendly. At Santa Monica Place, you’ll find upscale department stores, unique boutiques, restaurants and entertainment options such as ArcLight Cinemas. Some of the stores you’ll find here include AllSaints, Hugo Boss, Kate Spade New York and more.
